Boaties sailing on Andersons Inlet are encouraged to use the new "mammoth mat" to launch their vessels

Boaties sailing on Andersons Inlet are encouraged to use the new "mammoth mat" to launch their vessels. The mat is currently located adjacent to the existing boatramp at Inverloch. It is made of woven polypropylene fabric and stainless steel, is 25 metres long, and can be moved from location to location as a mobile boat launching pad.

Bass Coast Shire Council is trialling the mammoth mat at different locations throughout summer. Council is keen to receive feedback about the mat.

"We’d like to hear from boaties how effective it is for vehicles with trailers, especially during varying conditions," said Martin Duke, Operations Manager at Council.

Meetings about boating facilities in the area have been held with interested users. This has included representatives from the Wonthaggi Anglers Club, the South Gippsland Yacht Club, Parks Vic and the Inverloch Ramp Contractor. They will also be helping to monitor whether the mat is successful.
