Kennedy Announced As Speaker For IWD.Inverloch artist, Fiona Kennedy, has been announced as the guest speaker at Bass Coast’s International Women’s Day lunch. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 25th February 2009 - Back to News Cr Veronica Dowman said Ms Kennedy is gaining worldwide recognition. Her paintings are being commissioned and purchased from Germany, France, The Netherlands, London, Japan, and The United States.
"Her work was recently selected from a small number of artists to represent Australian contemporary art at The Australian Arts Fest, an exhibition held in Canada," said Cr Dowman.
"Fiona’s paintings were all sold opening night.
"Fiona is a well renowned local artist and a very successful woman and I’m really looking forward to hearing her speak on International Women’s Day."
Ms Kennedy’s work may be viewed online at www.fionakennedy.com or at her studio/gallery, 7 Halford Street, Inverloch.
Guests attending the event will also be entertained by local musician, Jane Hanley from Cape Paterson.
"Jane is an amazing singer and songwriter who will set the scene for the event with her relaxed, acoutstic tunes," commented Cr Dowman
"It’s great to have Jane back performing at International Women’s Day again this year.
"I would like to thank our sponsors for the event, as without their support and donation of prizes it would not be the same.
"A big thank you to Phillip Island Nature Parks and Lume Creative photography for their assistance in making this event happen," said Cr Dowman.
Tickets are selling fast for the International Women’s Day lunch at Silverwater Resort on Friday 6 March, between 12 noon – 2pm. Ticket price is only $30 per person, which includes a glass of champagne on arrival, a two-course meal and glass of wine, entertainment and prizes.
