Council is encouraging event organisers to join the Tourism Events Mentoring Program that is an excellent opportunity for tourism events.
East Gippsland is quickly building a reputation as a stand-out location for a wide range of events. To help organisers build their event into an ongoing, successful event, East Gippsland Shire Council is setting up a mentoring program. Emerging Tourism Events Mentoring Program: Pathway to Growth aims to support event organisers to plan, grow and deliver successful tourism events.

Council is seeking applications from event organisers who would like to join the program. Events taking part in the program are eligible for a council contribution of up to $20,000 value.
The program will support a small number of home-grown tourism events, unique to East Gippsland, for three years. Participants will be supported to develop skills and strategies to elevate their event and ensure its long-term sustainability and viability. This program has been designed to cover each stage of the event planning cycle, aligning to East Gippsland Shire Council's Event Action Plan 2021-26.
Encourage return visitations
Mayor Cr Mark Reeves said council strives to stimulate the development of events that deliver social and economic benefits for East Gippsland. "One way we do this is by attracting visitors from across Victoria and interstate, which helps promote East Gippsland to a wider audience and encourages return visitation."
"Pathways to Growth will be seeking a variety of tourism events in high-yield areas such as arts and culture, sport and leisure, boating and fishing, food and wine, agriculture, business events and car club activities which meet the program criteria. This is a great opportunity and I encourage all event organisers to look into this program and consider applying if you meet the criteria." Cr Reeves said.
Applicants are encouraged to speak to council's Events Officer before starting their application by calling 03 5153 9500. Applications for Round 1 of the program close on Wednesday, November 30. For more information and applications, visit Pathways to Growth details and application page.
