Gallery displays ‘Threads of friendship’An exhibition demonstrating numerous embroidery techniques will be on display in the International Power Hazelwood Community Access Gallery, Latrobe Regional Gallery from Saturday 17 June. By Latrobe City Council - 14th June 2006 - Back to News All of the items included in ‘Threads of friendship’ have been handcrafted by members of the Latrobe Branch of the Embroiderers Guild of Victoria providing an insight into a diverse range of stichery and are testament to the creative abililities of members.
Members of the branch will be in attendance for the duration of the exhibition demonstrating some of the techniques featured which include; hardanger, blackwork, stumpwork, patchwork, pulled and drawn thread, ribbon embroidery, and beading.
The Latrobe branch began as a guidance group in 1996 and became a branch in 2001. The branch meet on the first and third Fridays of the month at the Latrobe Regional Gallery and an evening group meets every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at the Uniting Church, Traralgon. Further information on joining the branch will be avaliable from the members themselves.
‘Threads of friendship’ continues until Sunday 2 July 2006.
The Latrobe Regional Gallery is located at 138 Commercial Road, Morwell, and is open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm, and on weekends 11am–4pm. The gallery is closed public holidays. For further information about exhibitions at the gallery, please telephone 5128 5700. Entry is free.
