Professor Gerry Stoker, Department of Government, University of Manchester will be guest speaker at The Institute for Regional Studies forum on Thursday, July 31. Gerry Stoker is a Professor of Political Science whose interests include local government, multi-level governance, urban politics, public policy and non-profit organisations. The forum entitled "New Labour, New Localism and Devolution" will be held in the Business & Economics Conference Room, Monash Gippsland from 1-2pm. A Careers Expo will be held at Monash University Gippsland Campus Student Lounge on Wednesday, July 30 from 12noon. Students studying at the Gippsland Campus can find out about local employment opportunities. The twenty-eight companies from across Gippsland taking part in the Expo will showcase the Graduate Programs, scholarships, internships, part time and vacation work they offer to Monash students.

• Making the Grade

The Inaugural Edison Mission Energy Scholarship will be presented to Kathryn Jessep, Bachelor of Science (Environment Management) student at the Gippsland Campus on Thursday, July 31 at 3pm. Kathryn completed her secondary education at Mirboo North Secondary College and Kurnai Maryvale and was awarded the $2500 scholarship based on her academic results, involvement with her local community, experience through park management volunteer work and membership of the Campus Environmental Association. Edison Mission Energy created the scholarship as part of its commitment to conservation through enhanced land management and the scientific training of young people for work in this field.

The Master in Organisational leadership course will be launched on Wednesday, July 30 at 6pm in the Business & Economic Conference Room at the Gippsland Campus. This Masters degree, to be offered by the Faculty of Education through the Gippsland Campus, will be of interest to all organisational leaders who are planning to manage change and resources, with particularly relevance for those in educational institutions. The first subject is scheduled to start in September and will be offered in an intensive weekend presentation mode.

Mira Yevtic will be performing on Piano at the free lunchtime concert to be held on Monday, August 4 at 1pm in the Hexagon at Monash University Gippsland Campus. Mira is an international acclaimed piano soloist who will play highlights of her repertoire including the rarely performed Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky.
