Sale Sonics Womens CBC Team in Full Training, quoting - "Watch out! We're coming for you"."Watch out! By Karen Cashman - 22nd September 2004 - Back to News The Sale Sonics Women's team is in full training for the upcoming Country Basketball Conference competition due to commence in October, with a light-hearted message to their oponents.
The Sonics team hosts great local talent, ranging in age from 16 to 24 years - Sure to be a "force to be reckoned with".
Liesl Holmes, Crista Davies, Elli Quirk, Kimberly Lennon, Staci Ward, Ebony Mc Alpine and Jade Harrison will be "wearing the Sonics colours with pride", remarks Jade Harrison, with her team-mates agreeing.
"We're excited and can't wait to get back into the swing of the competition" says Ebony McAlpine.
The Team has set themselves a goal for the 2004 CBC competition. "We will improve on last years performance", states Staci Ward. "We made the finals last year finishing fourth and will endeavour to finish in a higher position in 2004".
The Sonics Women's team train each week at the O.A.Ruff Stadium, with the next session being held on Wednesday 29 September from 6.30pm.
An interested "on-looker", Max Quirk remarked "The girls are training well and are working on their fitness. They will have a good CBC season".
"Anyone with an interest in playing or spectating is welcome to attend", says Trevor Holmes, who is currently volunteering his time and expertise as the "interim" coach for the Women's team.
(Coaching applications for all Sale Amateur Basketball Association teams closed on the 10th September and official notification of the successful applicants will be made this week.)
This is an exciting time for the SABA, and we invite the community to take part in all upcoming events. The SABA offers Junior and Senior competitions and training throughout the year.
