Internet Banking Scam:Criminals are targeting internet banking customers, to try to trick them into providing their client numbers and passwords. Recently a Sydney resident received the following email. "Dear valued customer, our new security system will help you to avoid frequently fraud transactions and keep your investments in safety." The email asked the resident to reactivate his account by logging in using the link provided. The email came from admins@commonwealthbank.com and looked genuine. This link went to a bogus website set up to steal client numbers and passwords. The resident was suspicious because of the poor grammar and unfamiliar web address, he knew that the real address for the Commonwealth Bank is commbank.com.au He notified the bank to warn other people. PartySafe Program:Hosting a party or at home or at a local venue can be heaps of fun, and you’ll want to have a night to remember. However, you’ll want your party to be remembered for all the right reasons, not because one of your guests got intoxicated or because your party was gatecrashed! The PartySafe Program has been developed by the Victoria Police in collaboration with the Victorian Department of Justice. The PartySafe initiative is a key crime prevention tool in your area, and will minimise the risk of intoxicated guests or gatecrashers ruining your party. To register with PartySafe, all you need to do is fill in the registration form available from your police station, also a PartySafe information kit is available. Then submit the form to the police station to register your party at least two weeks before it is to be held. The form will provide the police with the information they need to know, if they are called to your party to deal with a disturbance. Always Remember, If you are unable to handle the situation, call Victoria Police on 000More information on PartySafe can be obtained from the Neighbourhood Watch web site. Go to www.neighbourhoodwatch.com.au click on Latest News scroll down to PartySafe. The PartySafe form can be downloaded by clicking on the PartySafe Form link. Chroming:It has been reported by concerned residents that "Chroming" (That is the breathing in of paint vapour from a plastic bag) is being practiced by some young people in our area. A popular spot for this is along Water Hole Creek reserve. The effect produces a feeling of euphoria which leads to irrational or violent behaviour. Residents are asked to report any incidents of "Chroming" to the police, by phoning 000. Police Crime Report For July 2003, N.H.W. area LTB1 Bridle Estate
