‘Open Day’ at Monash University Gippsland Campus, Churchill will be held on Saturday, August 4. Plans are well underway to give visitors an informative and enjoyable day out. There will be something for all members of the family including everything current Year 12 students require to enter the degree of their choice, how to further your education while still working or caring for your family. There will be lots of interactive activities, prizes, games, face painting and giveaways for all ages as well as live entertainment with the crew from Star FM and local bands playing off for prizes in the Big Gig @ Monash.
'Out there and Outback', artist Alison Alder's reworking of the iconology of the outback town will open at the Switchback Gallery, Gippsland Centre for Art and Design on Tuesday, July 10 from 5pm. Alison, who lived and worked in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, resituates the classic outback imagery of Nolan and Drysdale into the 21st century. Alison's installation work questions assumptions about outback life using a range of media. Meet the artist at the opening. The exhibition continues until Thursday, July 19. The Switchback Gallery at Churchill is open Monday to Friday from 9am – 5pm.
A cohort of students from Southern Yangtze University, China has arrived to undertake Business studies at the Gippsland Campus at the beginning of Semester 2. The students will be given an opportunity to expand their experiences beyond the university through a community program which provides social and practical support for the students by establishing friendships, cultural exchange and including them in family activities.
