Emergency Water Supply PointsResidents affected by the Churchill/Jeeralang fires who are not connected to the town’s reticulated water supply system will still be able to access potable drinking water from two newly-installed water standpipes. By Gippsland Water - 13th February 2009 - Back to News The standpipes are located in Jeeralang Junction on the corner of Jeeralang West Road and Lindners Road, and in Traralgon South on Keith Morgan Drive, opposite the Traralgon South Primary School.
The standpipes have been erected to provide a reliable and safe supply to residents who may have lost access to water supplies following the recent fires.
Residents wishing to access water from the self-serve standpipes are asked to bring their own water storage container to the standpipe and collect the water from the taps. Gippsland Water is asking residents to ensure the tap is turned off after use to ensure water is conserved where possible.
The standpipes are set up for do it yourself filling of:
- Water bottles
- Water containers
- Small trailer tanks (less that 1000 litres)
They will be available from Thursday, 12 February 2009 until further notice.
Gippsland Water has also installed a standpipe in Christian Street, Boolarra at the Railway Reserve.
