Church Street Fiesta is full steam ahead!

News of the coming celebration delights the community

By Emma Kae - 29th November 2001 - Back to News

The Church Street Fiesta is a locally renowned celebration of the Latrobe Valley’s support and encouragement of multi-culturalism and regional attractions.

As a popular and greatly anticipated event, the earlier postponement of the Church Street Fiesta was met with a community feeling of sadness and regret. To the surprise and delight of many within the community, the annual celebration has now been re-scheduled to take place on December 7 from 6-10 p.m.

This year’s celebration promises to be bigger and better than ever, building on the multi-culturalism theme, with on-street demonstrations of traditional food, dance, music and craft, visual arts, wine tasting, kids rides, a pizza eating competition, as well as a visit from Santa. Special musical guests include Melbourne band Heavy Human Traffic.

The Gippsland Migrant Resource Centre (GMRC) and its volunteers are now planning and developing the coming event with great enthusiasm. The project is being led and co-ordinated by local AMP Ambassador Tony Salvatore. Other sponsors include Messenger Media, Cool Aqua Springs, 3TR Radio, Hazelwood Power and Latrobe City.

If anyone would like to participate in the event, or receive more information please contact Tony Salvatore on 51339533 for further details.
