Grigoryan Brothers Set To Dazzle Guitar Loving Audience Acclaimed guitar duo, the Grigoryan Brothers, are set to mesmerise the audience when they present an evening at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 4 November.
By Latrobe City - 13th October 2010 - Back to News Since their first Australian tour in 2002, Slava and Leonard Grigoryan’s performances have astounded audiences worldwide.
Latrobe City’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that in this time they have released three albums, and completed several national and international tours through Europe, USA, UK, Asia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
"Now, as part of a Regional Arts Victoria tour, they are set to dazzle audiences with the skill and virtuosity that has earned them a devoted international following.
"The Grigoryan Brothers have performed with orchestras around the world including the MSO and Sydney Symphony and at festivals in Australia and Europe," Ms Roberts explained.
"Their passion is to expand the standard guitar repertoire through new arrangements, their own compositions and commissions from contemporary composers.
"As a result, the brothers’ performances include forays into genres including Latin, jazz, folk and contemporary music.
"Fuelling this diversity is the brothers’ joy of improvisation, which when combined with their technical brilliance, adds a new and exciting dimension to concerts."
Ms Roberts said the program for this tour includes classical and traditional pieces.
"Included in the program are tracks from their latest release ‘Distance’, featuring originals, commissions and works by Australian and international composers including Nigel Westlake, Ralph Towner, Wolfgang Muthspiel, their father Edward Grigoryan and William Lovelady.
The Grigoryan Brothers feature at 8pm on Thursday 4 November at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre. Pre-performance drinks will be available from 7pm
