Update On Bogong Complex (South) FiresThe fire burning north and south of the WB Line in the Coopacambra National Park north of Cann River is currently 380 hectares in size By DSE/CFA - 10th February 2003 - Back to News The fire burning north and south of the WB Line in the Coopacambra National Park north of Cann River is currently 380 hectares in size. Firefighters are working on containing the fire edge, which has now been entirely tracked by bulldozers. The fire is still active, but no private assets are currently under threat.
There are three firebombers and 30 NSW State Forest firefighters working on the fire and 100 firefighters from South Australia are also being deployed to assist DPI/DSE firefighters in the suppression effort.
The Bogong South Complex fire remains approximately 17kms north of Dargo and priority is to complete backburns on the Matheson Track and from Mount Birregun and commence the backburn on Mount Sarah.
Dozers continued working from the northern end of the Tea Tree Spur Track, which will act as a fallback line for the Mount Sarah backburn.
While the predicted weather suggests that conditions may not be as bad as expected on Wednesday and Thursday, Dargo residents have been advised to remain vigilant and ready to enact their bushfire plans at short notice.
There has been little change in fire conditions in the Swifts Creek area where critical activities for the day were to establish and strengthen effective containment lines, continue patrolling and blacking out and backburning when conditions appropriate.
