Award winning journalist Thom Cooke will be guest speaker at the Gippsland campus September 2 from 10 – 11 a.m. The Melbourne-based journalist and filmmaker will discuss how modern technology allows journalists to film without a camera person, and the challenges and opportunities the technology presents. Together with Mike Carey and James Franklin, Cooke won a 2002 Walkey Award for coverage of the Papua New Guinea general election for SBS TV Dateline.

Associate Professor Christine Jub will discuss "Adult Quality Earnings Management in the Context of the 1997 Asian Crisis" at 1 p.m. on September 2. The presentation is part of the School of Business and Economic 2003 Research Seminar Series.

Channel 9 TV reporter Nick Johnston will be speaking to journalism students at the Gippsland Campus on September 4 at 10 a.m. The veteran public service and commercial TV journalist will talk to the students about his experiences as a reporter, and provide tips for covering news events.

The Family and Small Business Research Unit at Gippsland Campus will be hosting an International Expert Panel Discussion on Small Business Policy October 2. The panel consists of: Prof. David Storey, Director Centre for Small and Medium Enterprises, Warwick University, UK; Dr. Beth Walker, Director, Small and Medium Enterprise Research Centre, Edith Cowan University, WA; Dr. Rowena Barrett, Director, Family and Small Business Research Unit, Monash University, Gippsland Campus. Students from the Monash University School of Music – Conservatorium will perform at the free lunch-time concert at Monash University Gippsland Campus on Monday September 1. Starting at 1.10 p.m. in the Hexagon Theatre, the students will play a collection of ensemble performances.
