Youth Space - What Do You Want?

Young people need to get on-line now and complete our Youth Space Survey for a chance to win one of four $100 surf shop gift vouchers.

By Bass Coast - 15th September 2011 - Back to News

If you are aged between 12 to 25 years you can complete the survey and tell us what you think would make a fantastic place for young people in Bass Coast. The Survey is on Bass Coast Shire Council’s website www.basscoast.vic.gov.au or on the Youth in Bass Shire (YiBS) website www.yibs.net.au up to 30 September 2011.

Antoinette Mitchell, Council’s Community Strengthening Manager, explained that in our last survey young people told us that they needed their own space. "Now we need to know what that might look like.

"We want to hear ideas from young people about creating a Youth Space that is accessible, meets a variety of needs and is welcoming for young people", said Mrs Mitchell.

The survey asks questions about what young people like to do in their spare time and if these things could be a part of a Youth Space.
There are also questions about what services, programs and activities are already available for young people and whether these might be part of a Youth Space.

Mrs Mitchell urged young people from all over Bass Coast, to fill out the Survey. "We know that when young people are given the chance to speak up, they know what they want.

"By involving young people in deciding how they want their public space to be, they have a chance to create something for themselves and for other young people in the future," said Mrs Mitchell.
