Ongoing effort to resolve BRHS fundingBy Craig Ingram - 7th October 2004 - Back to News Representatives from the Bairnsdale Regional Health Service board, local GPs, CEO Gary Gray and Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, met with the Minister for Health, Bronwyn Pike, this week as part of an ongoing effort to address funding of BRHS.
"The meeting involved detailed discussions on a recent submission to the Minister outlining concerns at the current level of WEIS funding at the Bairnsdale hospital," Mr Ingram said.
"The delegation expressed the needs for a resolution to the issues at BRHS and the need for a long term funding increase and planning commitment.
"This remains an ongoing issue and I have been working with the Board and GP’s to find a solution.
"As I have previously stated, I believe the Board has been placed in an unfortunate situation and ultimately it is the government who can assist in ensuring that funding is increased to assist in retaining these services," Mr Ingram concluded.
