The five partners in the Gippsland Education Precinct applied to incorporate the Precinct into a legal entity at Latrobe City offices on Monday, August 11. In conjunction with the application for incorporation, representatives from Monash University, Kurnai College, Gippsland Group Training, Latrobe City and GippsTAFE also launched the Precinct Web site. The Web site, located at gep.vic.edu.au, will provide a wide variety of Precinct information ranging from program offerings, to media releases, to building updates. Kurnai College, GippsTAFE, and Gippsland Group Training will begin operating at the innovative Gippsland Education Precinct in January 2004. All four educational providers will be fully operational at the Churchill site in 2005.

It’s Disability Week at the Gippsland Campus. The week of activities will conclude with a dinner on Friday, August 15 where the winner of the Jenny Hill Memorial Award for Innovative Practice in Disability Support will be announced. Keynote speaker Stuart Tripp will recount strategies that have helped him through three distinct career paths, two round the world journeys and a car accident. Other highlights of the week will include wheelchair basketball and free staff and student massages.

• Making the Grade

The winner of the Website Competition run by the Gippsland School of Computing and Information Technology is Nick Andrijczak from St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School for his "Wirilda Environment Park" website. The school receives a computer and Nick receives $200 to be presented at the school assembly on Friday, August 15. Second place went to Ben Watson from Newhaven College, Phillip Island and third prize was awarded to Nicole and Kylie Cardona from Lowanna College. The School of Applied Sciences & Engineering at the Gippsland Campus will be introducing three new courses in 2004, the Bachelor of Environmental Technology, Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Education (double degree) and the Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

• Open subject

The free lunchtime concert next week will feature Carmen Warrington on vocals and music duo IREMIA who will transport the audience into peace and tranquillity with uplifting words, gentle songs, exquisite meditations and soothing music. The concert starts at 1.10pm in the Hexagon at Monash University Gippsland Campus on Monday, August 11.
