Phillip Island Croquet Club gets new pavilion with $600,000 funding from Sport and Recreation Victoria and Bass Coast CouncilAttracting new members to the popular sport of croquet just got a whole lot easier thanks to the official opening of a new croquet club pavilion. By news@gippsland - 7th October 2022 - Back to News Located at Blue Gum Reserve in Cowes, this community asset was formally opened by Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale MP, Bass Coast Shire Deputy Mayor, Cr Leticia Laing and Phillip Island Croquet Club President John Swarbrick. The opening was followed by a friendly game of croquet. 
The new Phillip Island Croquet Club pavilion includes accessible amenities, a multi-purpose and social space, to meet the growing needs of the community Modern and functionalCr Laing said "The new pavilion is modern and functional and will provide members of the Phillip Island Croquet Club the ability to accommodate their growing membership base." The new pavilion includes accessible amenities, a multi-purpose and social space, toilets and shower, storage and a kitchenette, and will meet the growing needs of the Club and the community with the population in Phillip Island continuing to grow. Better pavilion for communityPhillip Island Croquet Club President, John Swarbrick noted just how important the new Pavilion is for the Club. "The old Club House was so small that at our monthly general meetings half our members had to stand outside. It was also in the wrong spot. The new pavilion will enable the Club to extend to a third lawn, once we have raised the funds." "Our members have been loving the new pavilion. There is so much space, the facilities are great and so accessible. Plus with the larger social meeting space we will be able to rent out the pavilion to other community groups." Mr Swarbrick said. This project was made possible through a $545,000 grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria, as well as $30,000 from council and $25,000 from the Phillip Island Croquet Club.
