Art Aquisition LaunchWhat: A contemporary portrait of 20 years of Council’s art collection by Melbourne digital projection artist Yandell Walton, www.yandellwalton.com. Where: Town Hall, Ballieu Street East, Wonthaggi
Who: Mayor, Cr Peter Paul, CEO, Allan Bawden, speaker John Adam, local artists and guests.
Why: One of the ways Council shows support for local artists and art groups is through its Art Acquisition Program. Council has collected approximately four pieces of art a year from community art shows as an acquisitive prize. Due to lack of space and a dedicated art gallery it was decided to acquire one piece per year and increase the prize to $5,000.
