Business workshops for parents
Planning to start you own business? Here's a workshop project for parents.
Innovative business workshops for parents will be held in February and March at Moe PLACE.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Cr Darrell White, said the program was designed to support those with young children to think about starting up and running their own business.
"We are aware of how difficult it can be to attend courses and workshops when you have family commitments. But we also know that there are many parents out there with ideas for businesses. This program will allow parents to access free childcare whilst they attend the two courses.
The first workshop, ‘Starting Your Business’, runs from 9.30am to 1pm on 26 February. Delivered by an experienced business facilitator, the course will take attendees through the set up process, and connect them to a range of government resources and free mentoring.
The second workshop is ‘Your Business in a Digital World’ and will be held on 5 March from 9.30am to 11.30am. The course will inform participants starting a new or existing business online about the right online tools for their business.
Cr White added that the program had been kept deliberately low-cost to ensure parents can attend, as well as offering the provision of childcare for those who attend.
"We understand the cost of some courses can be prohibitive. Add to that the challenge and expense of childcare and it’s not surprising that parents find it difficult to access support and information when they want to foray into the world of business. The fee for this program is only $40 and that includes the childcare. There will be a maximum of 10 attendees to ensure that the content can be absorbed effectively and that participants can network in a supportive environment of like-minded people," Cr White concluded.
These workshops are part of the Small Business Victoria workshop program and will be facilitated by experienced business mentors.
