Fire Danger Period Introduced

A Fire Danger Period (FDP) will be introduced in Bass Coast from Monday, 30 October.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 30th October 2006 - Back to News

Bass Coast is part of Region 8, which also includes Cardinia Shire Council, City of Casey, City of Greater Dandenong, Frankston City Council, City of Kingston, Mornington Peninsula Shire and French Island.

The introduction of FDP this year is earlier than normal, in response to the extremely dry conditions being experienced across Victoria. The FDP means there are restrictions on open air fires over the summer period, through until April 2007. For details of the restrictions, please visit the CFA website www.cfa.vic.gov.au or Council’s website www.basscoast.vic.gov.au. Anyone wishing to enquire about requirements for permits to burn off should contact Council on 5671 2211 or 5951 3311.
