Graduation for Monash Gippsland students will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 11am in the Binishell. The Occasional Address will be presented by the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Richard Larkins. The graduates will include the first cohort of students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Regional Community Development. The Certificate is a one year part-time program offered by the Faculty of Education in collaboration with the Centre for Rural Communities Inc.

"Why Support Small Business?" will be the theme of a panel discussion at Monash University Gippsland Campus involving experts from the United Kingdom, Western Australia and Gippsland on Thursday, October 2 from 11am-12.30pm. The speakers will discuss ways that small business owners can get their voices heard to bring about positive policy changes and provide extensive networking opportunities. Gippsland, Australia and international representatives are registered to attend.

• Making the Grade

Six PhD students will graduate at next Saturday’s graduation ceremony making this the largest cohort of PhD students to graduate from the Gippsland Campus. One of the graduates, Ms Helen Sheil, will be the first Faculty of Education PhD student at the Gippsland Campus.

The final ‘Explore Monash’ for 2003 will be held at the Gippsland Campus on Tuesday, September 30 from 10am-2pm. Year 11 and 12 students are introduced to the study opportunities and experiences available at the Gippsland Campus. Explore Monash coincides with the school holiday breaks to make it easier for students and their families to visit the campus. Bookings are essential. Professor Sam Adeloju, Head, School of Applied Sciences at the Gippsland Campus was recently appointed to the Gippsland Lakes Future Directions and Action Plan Funding Panel for 2003/2004.
