The Faculty of Business & Economics at the Gippsland Campus has introduced the 'Monash Work Placement Program' to on-campus students who have completed second year of the Bachelor of Business and Commerce Degree. The program provides a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academia and business. Students will integrate theory and practice while undertaking work experience and employers will benefit from having a highly motivated business student with up to date knowledge and skills which will be readily applied to various organisation in Gippsland.

‘Hiring and Firing Public Managers: Returning Authority to Australian Politicians’ is the title of the Faculty of Business & Economic Research Seminar to be presented by Dr Len Pullin and Dr Ali Haidar on Tuesday, November 18 at 1pm in the Business & Economics Conference Room. The presentation discusses the boom of the post World War Two period in Australia and the pressures it placed on Commonwealth Government ministers and their ability to control senior public servants. It argues that politicians did not effectively reinstate ministerial responsibility until the late 1980’s when they began to assume the right to hire and fire public servants.
