First let me say those causing Damage to property owners should be made to repair and replace what ever they have destroyed.

And that people required to get permits should get them because it's the law not that the law is proper but it is the law never the less.

As far as roadside timber that is sitting there rotting and being an attraction and home to insects and small Animals and reptiles.Let's everyone stop to consider a few thoughts. First off lets mention the word Bushfire with all the dead and dying trees (Many that are leaning across the road) It's a tinderbox has the council forgotten about them I know it's not left my mind for a second. As far as a home for reptiles and small animals does anyone really think that these creatures of nature are safe living by a roadside let's face it folks if the dead and dying trees where cleared at least 6 meters from the roadside not only would it allow you to see these animals better so as to save the lives of the animals and (maybe even a few people not that they matter) but it would act as a firebreak saving property and maybe lives and homes of countless other small animals and reptiles that live away from the roadside.

Also there is the health of the other standing trees as trees rot they develop fungus and disease that spread to healthy trees killing them. I bet you thought I forgot about the insects no I'm saving the best for last because I am utterly shocked and appalled at the fact that no government agency has addressed the issue of Subterrerian Termites or White Ants did you know that little guys cost the Australian Home owners $500,000,000 a year. All the dead timber on the side of the road is like a dinnerbell ringing to beat the band.

I think that The real issue here As far as the council goes is the lost revenue from people clearing the roadsides without a permit $30 a load where does this money go ? And why doesn't the council allow the people that are have a hard go of it to help clean up the roadside and take the pressure off their strained finances by burning the wood in there homes.
