Easter Egg Drive Supporting MNH FoodbankRussell Northe teams up with Morwell Neighbourhood for Easter egg's donations. By Portal Admin - 26th March 2019 - Back to News Member for Morwell Russell Northe is teaming up with Morwell Neighbourhood House in collecting Easter egg’s so in turn these donations can be handed to families that may be experiencing challenging times over the Easter period.
Mr Northe will be accepting donations of Easter Eggs at his office in 12 George Street Morwell – Mr Northe will then be delivering the donated Easter Eggs to the Morwell Neighbourhood House Food Bank.
The Morwell Neighbourhood House Foodbank was set up in response to many people and families within the community who maybe struggling with food security on a day to day basis.
"The Food Bank service that is currently available to the community by Morwell Neighbourhood House (MNH) is a terrific initiative and the MNH team are doing a fantastic job" said Mr Northe
"We found that we were often giving people food directly out of our pantry. We were lucky enough to find some philanthropic support and were able to set up our Food Bank." Tracie Lund, Morwell Neighbourhood House Manager.
"Our Food Bank supports the social and public welfare of the more vulnerable members of our community.’ Ms Lund added
Liv Brewer (Food Bank user) said. "I have used the Food Bank - used it twice between not working and dealing with issues faced as a single parent fighting the law. It meant family pets could eat and we had basic food to have. The staff are kind and respectful, those at MNH assisted without judgement, and this is important."
Easter can be an expensive time for families; so to assist MNH and its Food Bank which supports some vulnerable members of our community is a great way we can all contribute to those in need.
"I encourage locals to get behind MNH and this initiative and welcome community members to make Easter egg donations to my office or directly to MNH at 48 Beattie Crescent, Morwell," said Mr Northe.
