Garry Starr storms Bairnsdale with Greece Lightning in Lycra at Forge Theatre & Arts Hub, Bairnsdale on 23 May 2025
Comedy sensation Garry Starr brings his outrageous, lycra-clad mythological masterpiece Greece Lightning to Bairnsdale for one night only - don't miss the chaos, culture, and side-splitting laughs at The Forge!
Garry Starr is coming. Yes, that Garry Starr. The international whirlwind of wigs, lycra, and laugh-out-loud lunacy. Fresh from winning Most Outstanding Show at this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival with Classic Penguins, this certified comedy comet is crash-landing in East Gippsland for one night only with his mythological mayhem, Greece Lightning.
Garry Starr, fresh from Melbourne Comedy Festival glory, brings his outrageous mythological comedy Greece Lightning to East Gippsland - one night only!
Mythology meets Mayhem
Now, we're not saying our programming team at The Forge Theatre & Arts Hub are cultural masterminds with impeccable taste and the uncanny ability to spot a comedy legend on the rise - but yes, that's exactly what we're saying.
While the rest of the world was just catching on, we were already scheming how to get this Grecian-toga-wearing tornado into our beloved theatre. Greece Lightning is a wild, side-splitting odyssey through Greek mythology, performed with utter abandon. Imagine every ancient hero, God and monster reimagined - and a lot of Lycra.
If Bairnsdale shows up in full comedic force and sells out the show, Garry has promised to return with the award-winning hit, Classic Penguins. The team at The Forge weren't sure we were ready for that level of scant costumery just yet. The globally celebrated, literary blitz that earned raves at Edinburgh, Adelaide, and Perth is a show that attempts to perform every Penguin Classic ever written in just one hour. It's highbrow meets low-cut hilarity.
Ticket purchase
But first, the gods demand your presence for Greece Lightning. So, let's make a deal with the comedy gods: come to Greece Lightning, roar with laughter, and help us bring Classic Penguins to East Gippsland. It's culture. It's chaos. It's practically civic duty. Come for the lycra, stay for the legacy.
