Vixens to play two pre-season games at Traralgon's Gippsland Regional Indoor Stadium in February
Gippsland netball fans are in for a treat this month, with the Vixens playing two pre-season games at Traralgon's Gippsland Regional Indoor Stadium in February.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced the Vixens Fan Festival Roadshow will take place from 11-13 February, supported by the Victorian Government's Significant Sporting Events Program. The Vixens will play two matches against the Adelaide Thunderbirds on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 February. There will also be the opportunity for Gippsland fans to meet their favourite players and get Vixens merchandise signed. There'll be giveaways and heaps more activities.
Since December 2014, the Significant Sporting Events Program has locked in more than 460 events for Victoria, with more than 230 staged in regional Victoria, boosting local jobs and economies
Sporting support
As well as the games, the Vixens and Netball Victoria will be hosting:
- Netball clinics
- Umpire and coaching courses
- School visits
Players aged 5-10 can have a go playing netball at a NetSetGo experience.
Gippsland sports fans are having a fantastic start to the year, with a sell-out crowd at the Phoenix versus Taipans basketball clash last week - that blockbuster was also supported by the Victorian Government's Significant Sporting Events Program.
Inspiring the next generation
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said, "We're delighted to welcome the Vixens back to the Latrobe Valley and I encourage all netball fans to make it to the stadium. What better way to inspire our next generation of champions to take up the game and support the Vixens in their lead-up to the 2022 season."
For more information on the Significant Sporting Events Program, go to significant sporting event page. Tickets for the games go on sale today, Tuesday, 1 February, from Ticketek.
