Puzzled about your Council? Want some answers? Have you ever wondered what happens when you make a suggestion, pass on an idea or make a complaint to Council? Need to know what services and facilities Council provides to the local community and visitors?

If any of these thoughts have ever crossed your mind, you’ll be pleased to know that Bass Coast Shire Council is providing an innovative opportunity for you to have your questions answered. Council will be running two Open Days where you can meet the people ‘behind the counter’ and have your questions answered.

The Open Days will take place on Friday 27 July at Wonthaggi and Friday 3 August at Cowes. Both days will run from 10am – 8pm and everyone is welcome.

Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr. Miranda Sage, said that the purpose of the Open Days was for people to get their questions answered about what Council does, how it operates and the services and facilities it provides.

"Councillors and staff will be on hand all day to meet with residents and visitors to answer questions, and there will also be static displays and presentations on a variety of subjects," said Cr. Sage.

Council will also provide transport, which can be booked by calling Stacey Skilton on (03) 5671 2211 or (03) 5951 3311.

Children are welcome and there will be lucky dips for the kids. Plus, there will be a variety of door prizes with a Council theme such as "get your dog out of the pound free" vouchers and of course a cup of tea or coffee for everyone.

Cr. Sage said that she expected the Open Days would be fun and an opportunity not only for residents to find out more about their Council, but also to provide feedback and ideas to the Council.

"We want people to come to the Open Days and let us know how and what we can do better," said Cr. Sage.

"The Open Days will be quite informal and relaxed, so come and have a cuppa with Councillors and staff." said Cr. Sage.
