Wellington Local News: A Helping Hand Can Be Good For BusinessA plan to share skills and expertise, offer advice and pool talent will mean bigger and better business prospects for women By Karen Gregory - 5th November 2002 - Back to News Tell us your opinion See what others have said The Women in Business Network Project is about to establish a mentoring network for women in business in Latrobe and Wellington Shire.
Project consultant Angelica Clutterbuck said that the aim of the mentoring network would be to encourage greater business to business networking among businesswomen by providing an opportunity for them to share their skills and expertise.
"This type of network enables women in business to seek help on a variety of issues when and if needed," she said.
"For example, a woman may have a business that functions well, but experiences problems in the area of marketing,",
"The mentoring network enables the consultant to match this woman with someone who is particularly skilled in that area and is happy to share this skill."
To get the plan rolling, the Women in Business Network Project is seeking expressions of interest from women with skills in human resource management, marketing, finance, bookkeeping, personal development, or other areas relevant to business operation, to be registered on the mentoring network register.
Angelica said that mentoring contacts could be one-off, or ongoing and training would be provided.
"The mentoring is strictly in an information giving capacity. For further in-depth help we can target more appropriate sources. "
The project is also seeking expressions of interest from women in business seeking help on a particular issue or general assistance in the daily operation of their business.
