Mayoral Ball Deferred To Later Date

Ball no longer scheduled to occur before Christmas

Wellington Mayor Malcolm Hole has deferred his Inaugural Mayoral Ball due to be held on Friday November 8, 2002.

The ball, which will raise funds for Wellington Entertainment Centre, will go ahead at a date to be announced.

"While work on Wellington Entertainment Centre is ahead of time and within budget, in view of the current situation, I felt it appropriate to delay the ball until after Christmas," he said.

"I want to make absolutely certain that everyone is reassured and confident that Council is making every effort to ensure that the entertainment centre is completed within sight of its target of June 2003.

"We will be contacting everyone involved in the organisation and preparation of this event. Anyone seeking further information regarding the ball should contact Maureen Meredith on 5142 3345."
