Wellington Shire Council Mayor Malcolm Hole said support for the ball, to be held on Friday 8 November, has been superb.

"Business, clubs and organisations have all donated generously and freely to make sure that this fund-raising event is a major success," said Mayor Hole.

"The response has been fantastic – a free Bubbly starter provided by Ritchies IGA, Sale, a magnificent range of cheese donated by Murray Goulbourn and a terrific range of auction items and raffle prizes from business, clubs and organisations across the Shire to make sure there’s something everyone can enjoy on the night."

Proceeds from the ball, to be held at Sale Memorial Hall, will go towards Wellington Entertainment Centre, a $6 million community development due to be opened next year.

Sponsored by Mirvac’s Gippsland Centre, Sale and Telstra Countrywide, tickets for the ball are already selling fast, with only four tables now left for the taking.

"This is a formal event, but the emphasis is very much on having fun," he said. "It’s an opportunity to dress up, meet friends and raise funds for our new entertainment centre.

"The centre will be a top venue for all sorts of activities, making sure everyone in Wellington has access to great entertainment."

"While there are only a few tables left, we can always find room for individuals or couples who might like to be mixed and matched with others for the evening."

There’ll be a champagne reception at 7pm with dinner and dancing from 7.30pm through to 1.30am. The evening will feature several unusual fundraising ventures, including a "silent" auction, a not-so-silent auction, a straw lotto, door prizes and the treasure of all fund-raising, a chook raffle – with a twist!

Tickets can be booked through Wellington Shire Council Customer Service Centre, Port of Sale Civic Centre, Sale.
