TAFE week 2002Great careers start at TAFE! By Eimear McNelis - 19th August 2002 - Back to News GippsTAFE has recently released it’s new look course guide "Course and Career Navigator 2003," which focuses on career selection for school leavers.
The 80 page booklet has been specifically designed to guide people with particular interests or skills into courses and careers that will suit them.
The guide is set out in a straightforward easy-to-follow manner, with an emphasis on career directions and job pathways.
Set out similarly to the Australian Job Guide, the Course Navigator leads to a list of occupations, and then to course options provided at GippsTAFE that could lead to a chosen job career.
GippsTAFE also recently launched its first ever "CGIT International Student Handbook" in China, proving to be a big hit with prospective Chinese students.
The CGIT International Handbook is aimed at providing prospective international students with some general information in deciding which course they will take for their pathways to higher education.
The CGIT International Handbook contains an overview if Gippsland, the Australian education system and other topics including employment, finance and banking, a guide to the cost of living, Australian Government requirements and general attendance requirements.
GippsTAFE’s Yallourn Campus Library has also just re-opened after refurbishment, providing a stunning new learning resource for students.
"The library space has been completely reorganised, with a more open area for students to work in," said Suzanne Poulter, Coordinator of Library Services.
"There is also a brand new open access computer area, which has brand new computers with Internet access and extra space so students can spread out their work beside the computer."
The library area is open daily from 8.30am-4.30pm.
