Portable ‘A’ frame advertising signs require a local law permit and must be placed immediately adjacent to the premises they are advertising. Permits cost $30 and must be renewed annually. Council’s Customer Service Manager Colin Adams said that controls had been placed on the use and display of portable signs in the interests of the community. "The community made it clear that it did not want to see signs scattered all over the Shire. They can ruin an attractive streetscape and, importantly, cause traffic and trip hazards. "Naturally, it’s impossible to judge the suitability of the size and placement of each individual sign, a Local Law makes it absolutely clear what is and what is not acceptable. "We are about to start a Shire-wide check to make sure that signs comply with the Local Law, so we encourage traders to make sure the placement and permit for their signs are all in order. "If anyone is unsure, they should contact us as soon as possible so we can help and advise them." Source: www.gippsland.com Published by: news@gippsland.com Related Articles
