Fringe Festival Finalist

GippsTAFE art student announced as a finalist for the Fringe Festival poster design competition

By Eimear McNelis - 30th July 2002 - Back to News

GippsTAFE art student Elissa Tuck has recently been announced as a finalist for the Fringe Festival poster design competition.

Ms Tuck, who is studying a Diploma of Arts (Graphic Arts) at GippsTAFE’s Yallourn Campus, said "I was surprised when I was announced as a finalist; I didn’t think that anyone locally would get that far.

For the competition students had to design a Fringe Festival poster that would be used for the Fringe Festival.

"Entry in the competition was a compulsory project that students had to complete for the graphic arts course," said Ms Tuck.

Ms Tuck’s festival poster will be exhibited at the Fringe Festival in Melbourne along with the other finalists.

The Diploma of Arts (Graphic Arts) provides training for a graphic artist in the graphic design field. It is a flexible course model allowing for multiple training options for design workers.

Topics covered in the course include computer aided design, electronic design, photography, technical colour applications, presenting information, life drawing and finished arts.

For more information on any art courses, please contact GippsTAFE’s Art Department on 5127 0277.
