We do ask all the local community to take an interest in the Neighbourhood Watch. At present our area here on the Bridle Estate has more crime occurring than other Morwell areas.

There’s a lot Neighbourhood Watch can do to make a real difference to the area where we live, and in the final analysis, We are Neighbourhood Watch.

Have you got your tickets for the Police Band concert? This delightful show will be held in Kernot Hall on Wednesday 17th of July from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. Featuring performances by the Police Show Band the world class Police Highland Pipe Band. Tickets can be obtained from Carmen or your Zone Leader for $6.00 each. Not many tickets are left.

Home Safety, Bathrooms:

Young children can drown in as little as 5 centimetres (about 2 inches) of water. Therefore, baths or even buckets with that level of water left in them have proven to be fatal in the past. The most common injuries to children in bathrooms are scalds, falls and poisoning. Some methods of reducing the risks to children are listed here:

· Always run the cold water tap first and last when running baths.

· Use slip resistant floor surfaces.

· ‘Suction cup’ rubberised mats should be used in baths.

· Fit door locks that can be opened from the outside in bathrooms and toilets.

· Store medicines in lockable or child proof cabinets. Discard old medicines once past the ‘use by’ date.

· Keep electrical appliances unplugged and locked away when not in use.

· Locate power points high enough to be out of reach of children.

· Keep the bathroom door closed when not in use.

· Set the hot water temperature at no higher than 50° Celsius.

· NEVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, LEAVE A CHILD UNATTENDED IN A BATH.

In all situations, a little common sense goes a long way, and planning now may save a young life down the track.

2002 Bluey Day Head Shave 10th of August 2002:

Combined Emergency Services members are having their heads shaved.

· Police

· Fire Brigade (CFA)

· Ambulance

Sponsors or donations from individuals, companies or organizations, are needed to raise $1000 per head.

All monies raised go to help children with cancer.

There will be merchandise available to purchase — badges, hats, t-shirts, stubby holders etc.

Any enquiries to:

Sergeant Leanne EVANS, Constable Mick WILLIAMS or Constable Bruce MURPHY at Morwell Police Station, Phone 5134 3255.

PLEASE WILL YOU HELP THIS WORTHY CAUSE?
