Neighbourhood Watch comes to the Gippsland Portal launch

Malcolm Lawrence of Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter fame, came along to join the festivities of the Gippsland Portal launch and meet the faces behind the screen.

Mr Lawrence, a boisterous man in his late 60s, assists in maintaining both the Gippsland Portal and Neighbourhood Watch websites with relevant, up to date home and personal safety information for Gippsland to log-on and read.

The Gippsland Portal Team invited Mr Lawrence – noted for his contributions to the Neighbourhood Watch paper newsletter – to start publishing the newsletters on line. At first, Mr. Lawrence was quite wary of adding, editing and publishing regular news on the Neighbourhood Watch website himself.

One day, he took a long hard look at the computer before him, put aside his fear of modern technology and shrugged off his desire to listen to his favourite classical album and decided today was the day. He proceeded to publish his first online newsletter.

Today, Mr. Lawrence is one of the Webmaster greats. Once a month, without fail, he logs into the Neighbourhood Watch website and updates the safety news for his region.

After celebrating the launch of the Gippsland Portal, the team took Mr. Lawrence aside to congratulate him on his contribution to the information available for Gippslanders online. Well done Mr. Lawrence!
