Racing will commence at 11.00 a.m. at the drag racing circuit constructed to the south of the playing oval at the Dalyston Recreation Reserve.
Drag racing is the latest innovation to the mud-racing format. It consists of two cars racing side by side on separate tracks through mud, water, bends and jumps to achieve the fastest time without hitting any marker pegs. Action is relentless and often airborne.
Categories of racing include the following six classes of vehicle.
CLASS 1 – ROAD REGISTERED CLASS 2 – TOYHATSU JUNIORS (547c.c. Engine Ages 10-18) CLASS 3 – 0-2800c.c. MODIFIED CLASS 4 – 2800c.c-4300c.c. MODIFIED CLASS 5 – 4300c.c 6000c.c. MODIFIED CLASS 6 – OPEN (Any engine size)
There is action aplenty with 4 heats on alternate tracks. Up to 60 modified vehicles are expected to compete with entries for registered vehicles taken on the day.
A number of novelty events including the human mud run are proposed during the course of the day. Off circuit activities are family orientated with carnival rides and other children’s amusements included as part of a full day of action and entertainment.
The event will be fully catered with a variety of hot and cold food and refreshments available. The venue will be licensed and include an area catering for the events corporate sponsors.
Modified 4Wheel Drive drag racing in this format is an exciting action packed extreme sport with never a dull moment. The series promoters the Australian 4WD Mud Racing Association is working hard to lift the profile of the sport with a 7 Round series spread between Mildura and Hobart. The sport is attracting increased media coverage including some Fox Sports exposure.
This Event is being staged by the Dalyston Football / Netball Clubs with the proceeds to finance improvements at the Recreation Reserve.
