Darren Chester calls for expressions of interest for 2024-25 Federal Volunteer Grants in Gippsland community organisations
Darren Chester is calling for expressions of interest from Gippsland community organisations for the 2024-25 Volunteer Grants program, offering funding between $1,000 and $5,000 to support volunteers' work.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from local community organisations for the Federal Government's 2024-25 Volunteer Grants program. Volunteer Grants support the work of community organisations by reducing barriers for volunteers and increasing participation in volunteering.

Grants empower volunteers
Mr Chester is encouraging Gippsland not-for-profit community organisations that rely on volunteers to apply for funding to support the work of volunteers. "Throughout Gippsland, we have thousands of volunteers who dedicate their time and support the community."
"This funding is designed to assist successful community organisations in supporting the efforts of their volunteers and ensure they can continue to provide for and support the community safely and appropriately," Mr Chester said.
Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 will be available to eligible not-for-profit community organisations to purchase communication or insurance items or to purchase items or services to assist volunteers or volunteer-run activities that support the well-being and development of children under 18.
Supporting Gippsland volunteers
Mr Chester said the grants serve as a small recognition of the dedication and effort put in by the local volunteers. "While the work of our volunteers may be unpaid, it is not unrecognised. From fighting bushfires and caring for the environment to supporting people in our community and running local events, the value of the work done by our volunteers is immeasurable.
"Through the Volunteer Grants program, we can give them a helping hand and make their roles as volunteers easier and more enjoyable. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our community, and by continuing to help each other and work together, we are building a stronger and safer Gippsland," Mr Chester said.
The 2024-25 Volunteer Grants program is now open for expressions of interest through Mr Chester's website, and must be submitted by 5pm, Friday, January 24. Local community organisations must submit an EOI to be considered for a 2024-25 Volunteer Grant. Successful applicants will then be invited to complete a full submission.
