Pianist Accompanist required
Latrobe Chorale, a four part choir, (S.A.T.B.), is looking for a rehearsal and performance pianist for 2012 and onward. The group meets on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm until approximately 10.00 pm in Morwell.
Members travel from Traralgon, Morwell, Moe, Trafalgar and even further afield.
We usually have two major performances per year and occasionally other smaller events, with a break over the Christmas holidays and again during mid year.
The music is predominantly classical and/or sacred.
The rehearsal pianist is mostly required to bash notes, to play each groups line whilst they learn it and then the accompaniment . Good sight reading skills are a big help. The music itself is of varying standards, usually not too complicated , absolute perfection during rehearsals is not required, although a suitable standard for performances is !
What we require of you:
Availability for rehearsals and performances. (Rehearsals suspended during July school holidays. Consideration given to previous arrangements or required absences. eg. exams)
A reasonable standard of playing (no grade qualifications are necessary, but approx grade 5/6 or above)
A reasonable standard of sight reading
Preparedness to learn music in your own time.
Possible extra rehearsals near to performance, by mutual agreement.
What we will offer you:
A one off payment per season to be negotiated
Possible additional payments; eg. for making rehearsal tapes
A friendly atmosphere with a committed group of singers
Program acknowledgement of your service
Immersion in some beautiful music and possible broadening of your musical horizons.
