Council spending
Roy Wyss2/7/2002
Is it not time the Council should be made responsible for spending ratepayers money on projects that are not needed. i.e. Changing the Logo of council (which costs a great deal of money) Administration buildings, (which we have a surplus on) new uniforms to go with new logo, (which means throwing out old ones) Council employees spending time on pulling down and then erecting signs, (because new logo) where maintenance programs on Parks etc are being neglected because money is not available to complete projects, Money that has been used for projects which we DID NOT NEED. We had to spend a great deal of money to change the logo only a few years ago. Has council got nothing better to do but to waste time and RATEPAYERS money.

When we moved to Morwell some 30+ years ago there was talk of putting the rail line under ground so Morwell could be united, but in 30 years what has happened (not a thing the dog is still chasing its tail and the gap between its mouth and its tail is still the same) trade on one side of the line dropped off so a small fortune was spent to redevelop the area. Then a number of years later as trade on opposite side of the line drops off, so another small fortune is spent to redevelop that area, and so the chase goes on year after year. Then mid valley comes along and the $ is now split in three. Then the APM & SEC start to wind back first by going to 12-hour shifts, then with the sell off of the SEC
