Come Celebrate The First Anniversary Celebration Dinner of the Gippsland Portal!

The key to Gippsland online, Gippsland.com is celebrating its first anniversary with a celebratory dinner for all of the Gippsland Portal’s supporting businesses, organisations and community members.

The milestone marks 365 days in the life of Gippsland’s greatest communication tool to date. During this time, the website has established near 700 business listings, 1700 active members and over 2000 weekly visitors to Gippsland.com

"Support for the website has been tremendous," remarked Gippsland Portal Team Leader Antony Svasek. "More and more people are coming to understand that Gippsland.com is the key to the doorway for Gippsland Information.

The website has developed and grown enormously since commencement this time last year. It is invaluable for Gippsland residents and visitors alike, with everything from tourism and accommodation information to the business directory, weather and regional fuel prices to local news, jobs and events. The website is the central focus for all things Gippsland orientated.

"The anniversary dinner is to celebrate the support of the Gippslanders that have contributed to the website – with business directory listings, news, classifieds, jobs, events and discussion forums. Without the support and interaction of our audience, the Gippsland Portal may have no purpose," Mr. Svasek said. "We would like every Gippslander to be a part of the Portal!"

Arguably the most important aspect of the website has been in encouraging the growth of e-commerce in Gippsland. It encourages local people to contact local businesses for the products and services they require – vital for the Gippsland economy.

"The business directory is a hugely important section of the website," adds Mr. Svasek. "It allows users to locate and contact Gippsland Businesses quickly and easily. The celebrations will begin on 2 October 2002, with an open day at the home of the Gippsland Portal - the GREEN Inc. building in Churchill. Visitors can take a tour of the production room and learn about how the Gippsland Portal was created and maintained. The dinner will be taking place in the evening, with surprise guest speakers and users talking about their experience with the Gippsland Portal.
