Reconstruction of Tarwin Street, Morwell
Roadworks in Tarwin Street, Morwell are progressing well with drainage works nearing completion. The project is scheduled to be finished by mid-June, weather permitting.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan, said that improving road conditions for drivers was a key aspect of this kind of civil works project."Delivering safer roads for our community is a priority. These works have been identified under Council’s road rehabilitation program.
"The road surface was nearing the end of its useful life and required a complete rehabilitation. A project of this nature also allows us to improve the overall amenity of the road, such as neatening the streetscape with concrete islands, improving the intersections and access as well as installing central medians.
"We will also plant new street trees during spring this year," Cr O’Callaghan said.
"Once the drainage is complete, the next steps will be to lower the gas and water service lines to allow for stabilisation of the road pavement. This work will be followed by installation of the new concrete kerb and channel, concrete vehicle crossings and finally the new crushed rock road pavement with a bituminous seal and an asphalt overlay," Cr O’Callaghan concluded.
