Play and stay up late
Come and Play – All of May is an arts and culture celebration happening right now across Gippsland. The month long festival hosts a range of activities from Mallacoota to Phillip Island.
The celebration is an initiative of the Creative Gippsland network. This year’s celebration also includes evening events from 6pm – 8pm called Come and Play UP LATE.The first UP LATE activity took place in Cowes on Saturday, 6 May and will be followed by a second session in Wonthaggi, Inverloch and surrounds on Saturday, 13 May. During these UP LATE events, diverse and wonderful spaces will be ignited with art, fun and music.
UP LATE in Cowes began with a welcome and a one-night only outdoor exhibition of works by Caigan Meade and Shasta Stevic. After a short walk and stop along the way, the event concluded at the Cheeky Goose Café with music by Tony Mercer.
Then on Saturday, 13 May there will be a host of spaces staying UP LATE including: Goat Island Gallery and Studio, Artfusion, Studio 40, Susan Hall’s studio, Artspace Wonthaggi, and Theinert Gallery. On this night, Murray St Bazaar and Wolf on Murray will be holding a special event, '3 singers, 7 songs (& dinner!)'.
For those looking to explore the whole night, there will be a bus tour departing Goat Island Gallery at 5pm and visiting Artfusion, Studio 40, Susan Hall’s studio and finishing with live music by Invy Katz and supper at Goat Island Gallery.
