Open Studios West Gippsland is a weekend-long event where artists open up their home studios. See the places where the magic happens - you can meet with the makers, listen to the stories behind the work, watch demonstrations of artists' techniques, and browse and buy their creations. You can put together your own self-guided tour selecting from the artists and styles that resonate with you.

Thirteen artists in and around Warragul will participate in the 2021 event, opening up their studios that inspire the paintings, sculptures, printmaking, ceramics and wood carvings. West Gippsland is just a 90-minute drive east of Melbourne, taking in vibrant green hills and bucolic countryside, a perfect excuse for a Sunday drive. Discover the villages between the studios filled with inviting cafes, farm-fresh produce and wineries, or make a weekend of it by staying in warm country accommodation.

Make a weekend of it

There are areas for you to visit with the family like:

  • Take in the handful of wineries and the brand-spanking-new Bandolier Brewing (Warragul) on the West Gippsland Wine Trail
  • Head to Yarragonfor browsing homewares, collectables and handmade clothing. Get your caffeine fix and stock up on gourmet produce for home.
  • Continue your arts-fuelled adventure at Town & Country Gallery (Yarragon), a dreamy collection of paintings, sculptures, hand-blown glass and jewellery
  • Leg-stretching goals can be achieved at the graceful Noojee Trestle Bridge
  • Walk around the spectacular Tooroongo Falls, usually most impressive in spring

The organisers appreciate visitors taking precautions to protect themselves, the artists and other visitors, so please wear masks if appropriate and stay 1.5m apart. Please check the website before starting out as circumstances may change quickly due to COVID restrictions.
