Latrobe City Councillors were unanimous in their decision to appoint Steven Piasente as new Chief Executive Officer after an extensive recruitment process.
Latrobe City Council is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Mr Steven Piasente.
Councillors were unanimous in their decision to appoint Mr Piasente after an extensive recruitment process. Mayor Cr Graeme Middlemiss said that Councillors were impressed with the well-credentialed field of applicants and the breadth and depth of their experience.
"We were united in our view that we needed to build on the achievements of the past four years and Mr Piasente demonstrated comprehensively that he is the right person to lead the organisation into the future.
"This has been a public and comprehensive process - we felt that this level of accountability was essential to the community and critical to deliver the best outcome.
"After an extensive recruitment process, it is pleasing to find an individual that has been able to articulate to us compelling vision for the future - a vision which holds the Council Plan and its focus on improved customer responsiveness, a ‘can do’ culture and an emphasis on economic development and jobs growth at its core.
"Councillors were impressed with Mr Piasente’s accomplishments including his ability to work with community, drive significant projects in partnership with stakeholders and build capacity across the organisation.
"Latrobe City Council is a large, dynamic and complex organisation. Its next phase of growth requires an individual with a strong track record of delivery and an abundant knowledge of contemporary local government practice.
Mr Piasente said he was proud and humbled to have been appointed the CEO of Latrobe City Council.
"Council has commenced a significant program of customer transformation and I look forward to the opportunity to build on this, to drive service innovation and efficiency as well as economic development. Latrobe City Council is a positive organisation, determined to build a strong and prosperous future for all residents. "
