Community feedback and public health plan presented by the council to Gippsland Southern Health Service
South Gippsland's largest employers - both working to serve the local community - there was a lot to discuss, and it was a great opportunity to build on the strong relationship that has already been established between the organisations.
This week, Mayor Mohya Davies and Chief Executive Officer Kerryn Ellis met with Gippsland Southern Health Service Chair Athina Georgiou, and Interim Chief Executive Officer Chris Trotman, to discuss ideas and partnership opportunities between the two organisations. Council shared feedback provided by our community during the recent Shaping South Gippsland 2040 community engagement program, and presented Gippsland Southern Health Service with a copy of the new Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2022-2025.

Collaborating on opportunities
Gippsland Southern Health Service shared their 2021-2026 Strategic Plan, and the two organisations were able to discuss shared challenges, such as housing shortages, mental health service provision, and employment attraction. The group committed to meeting regularly and ensuring the organisations would continue to work collaboratively into the future.
South Gippsland Shire Council Mayor, Mohya Davies said, "South Gippsland Shire Council and Gippsland Southern Health Service have a great working relationship and it was great to catch up with their Chair and CEO on-site at the hospital. The meeting gave us a chance to discuss the future health and wellbeing of our community and to consider how we can work together for the benefit of our residents."
Gippsland Southern Health Service said, "Both our organisations are working to serve our community and it is important that we work together to promote our region and collaborate on opportunities such as workforce attraction, to strengthen services for our residents and visitors."
