Put a smile on your dialA quick guide to some of the funniest websites around By Escah Jones - 19th October 2000 - Back to News Tell us your opinion See what others have said The more time I spend on the Internet, the more smile therapy I get.
As such an immense resource for information on just about any subject, it is not hard to find websites which are genuinely witty and certifiably hilarious.
For those of us who are in need of a little humour, here are a few of the best, sure to enforce a grin. Are you up for a giggle?
From the warped minds of the Triple J comedy masters Merrick and Rosso comes Tight Ass Tuesday, a collection of stories about the kind of people who reuse their mouthwash…
Sent in by listeners all over the great sunburnt country, the comprehensive guide to the more stingy members of the community is funnier than a vegemite and peanut butter sandwich.
Another site worthy of a look is the well-known Funny.com. With jokes about everything from politics to religion, there is sure to be something to tickle your fancy.
My favourites are the situational humour - methods of finding amusement for twisted people. Things like “When you enter a full elevator, hold the door open as though you are waiting for someone. After a few moments, let the doors slide back into position and say to the empty space beside you ‘hi Andrew… how was your day?’”
Try Jokes.com for a huge database of gags and cool services like free e-mail, complete with a subscription to the joke of the day. You can submit your own attempts or simply browse through the genius of others.
Chuckle.com goes one further with the great joke of the minute. Keep this window open while you smile politely at your boss and pretend to be doing productive work.
Coming soon are Laugh.com and JokeCentral.com, showing that the smiles are here to stay.
Do you have a favourite joke website? Why not share it below in the feedback section?
