The bridge will be replaced in two stages, with one lane remaining open to allow continued vehicle access to Bullock Island. However, from Monday 2 August until late 2021, pedestrians will not be able to use the bridge to access Bullock Island due to space limitations and worksite hazards.

The new bridge accommodates pedestrians and cyclists with a shared path on the south side and a second pedestrian path on the north side

Improved load capacity

The completed bridge, being built by Jarvis Norwood Constructions, will comprise a two-way roadway with improved load capacity, shared cycle and pedestrian paths and LED lighting. Funding of $5 million has been provided by the Federal Governments Victorian Infrastructure Investment Program. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
